The walk was the fun part. The drive home wasn't.

Wet dog. Muddy paws. Claw marks down the door card. And a dog who spends the whole journey sliding off the seat and scrambling into the footwell on every roundabout.

TrailPaws™ 2.0 turns your back seat into a flat, non-slip platform your dog can actually settle on — with waterproof flaps that catch everything your upholstery used to. Sealed seams mean water stops at the fabric instead of soaking through the stitch holes, which is where cheap covers give up first.

Muddy walks in. Clean car out.

  • Waterproof Where It counts

A 600D Oxford shell with a PVC backing, and the seams are pressure-sealed so water can't creep through the needle holes. That's the exact spot budget covers leak.

  • It stays where you put it

A non-slip mesh underside, adjustable headrest straps and seat anchors hold the cover flat through braking, corners and an excitable spaniel.

  • No more footwell drop

The hammock spans the gap between the seat and the back of the front seats, so there's nowhere to slide into. Your dog gets one flat surface to lie on.

  • Clean in under a minute

Hose it down on the drive or wipe it with a damp cloth. When it needs a proper wash, it goes in the machine on a cold gentle cycle.

What Makes TrailPaws™ Different

Most budget covers fail in the same three places: the seams leak, the base slips, and the doors go unprotected. TrailPaws™ 2.0 was built around those three problems.

FAQs

Will it fit my car?

It's designed as a universal fit for the back seat of most saloons, hatchbacks, estates and 4x4s — Qashqai, Sportage, Golf, Focus, Discovery, Land Cruiser and similar. The adjustable headrest straps and seat anchors take up the slack in smaller cars and stretch to cover wider benches.

Is this a safety restraint?

No — and we won't pretend otherwise. TrailPaws™ 2.0 is a protective cover, not a crash-tested restraint. In a collision it will not hold your dog.

What it does do is keep your dog contained in the back seat instead of climbing through to the front, give them non-slip footing so they aren't thrown about on corners, and stop them dropping into the footwell.

Highway Code Rule 57 requires dogs to be suitably restrained in a vehicle. To meet it properly, use the cover together with a crash-tested harness clipped to a seatbelt, or a travel crate. The cover and the harness do different jobs — you want both.

Will my dog actually settle on it?

Most dogs that hate car journeys hate them because they can't get steady footing. Every corner becomes a small emergency, and an anxious dog stays standing and panting rather than lying down.

A flat, grippy surface across the whole back seat gives them something solid to commit to. Give it two or three short journeys before you judge it — let them get in and out on the drive first, then a five-minute trip, then a longer one.

If your dog's car anxiety is severe or they're being sick on journeys, speak to your vet. A seat cover helps with footing, not with motion sickness.

How do I clean it?

After a muddy walk: wipe it down with a damp cloth, or hose it off outside and let it drip.

Proper wash: machine wash cold on a gentle cycle with mild detergent. Skip the bleach and fabric softener — both break down the waterproof coating. Hang to dry out of direct sun. Don't tumble dry.

Hair: a rubber glove or a damp sponge dragged across the surface lifts it faster than any lint roller.

How long does it take to fit?

About three minutes the first time, under one after that. Drape it over the back seat, loop the straps over both sets of headrests, push the anchors down into the seat gaps, and zip the door flaps into place. No tools.

Leave it in permanently, or unclip it in seconds when you need the back seat for passengers. It folds flat enough to live in the boot.
